Developed throughout 2018 as part of the Hotel Generation artist development programme with Arebyte Gallery, London.
Exhibited at the Glasgow Project Room.
Focusing on the remains of media epochs that we are living through and perpetually creating today. Taken from informal research on Karen Barad’s Federation of Actants and Quentin Meillassoux’s Hyperchaos concepts, the images float in and out of interplanetary scales, between promotional material for luxury flats, ASMR tourist flyovers, coastal drives and a rendering of Jupiter’s moon, Europa.
The video work uses found footage from online sources, and soundtracked using iPhone apps. Featuring footage of the late volcanologists Maurice and Katia Krafft, scientists consumed by the aesthetic sublime and a cinematic geography, their voice being used to describe the habitable potential of Europa; a speculation for an exit strategy.
Supported by Arebyte Gallery, Hope Scott Trust and the Glasgow Visual Artist Award.
